Le Four a Pain
|
| Gardening runs in the family of Madeleine Rousseau: her grand-father
was the gardener of Monet's friend
famous politician Clemenceau, and her father succeeded him on the same estate.
Madeleine managed to compose a flourished setting to her beautiful 18th century
house, which she patiently restored.
The norman style buildings rise in tiers on the hillside, in the village of Saint-Denis le Ferment, next to Gisors and its castle. Surroundings are calm and propose lovely walks or rides in the countryside. In the main house - a former farm - a large bedroom with exposed beams can accomodate up to 4 people. |

In the middle of the garden, the former baker's oven was turned into
a small but comfortable guest house equipped with kitchen facilities and
dining area. This lovely bakehouse has also its own terrace.
Whatever the room you choose, you will have breakfast in Miss Rousseau's
dining room and appreciate its elaborate decoration while you will taste
her home-made jams or cake.
|
| The guest house opens onto the orchard on one side, the yard full of
flowers on the other side. Bedroom is on ground floor.
This half-timbered bakehouse was still in use a few dozens years ago. In the bedroom, you will see the oven where bread was baked weekly for the family members. |
